Our trainers utilize a balanced training approach with an emphasis on positive reinforcement and relationship building. Balanced training utilizes all four quadrants of Operant Conditioning opposed to only using one or two of those quadrants.

Training tools vary depending on the dog! No two dogs are alike, therefore, each dog learns differently and will utilize different training tools. Various training tools our trainers may utilize are a slip leash, Herm Sprenger prong collar, and e collar by e collar technologies.

Board and trains are a great way to “reset” your dog or jump start learning new behaviors. Training takes a lot of time, energy, and consistency! Utilizing a board and train will help establish the expectations you have for your dog without the stress doing the training yourself. It’s a great way to elevate your relationship with your dog! Think of it like a boot camp!

While in the past we used to allow people to visit their dog to work with them throughout their dog’s board and train, we unfortunately have had staffing changes and there is only 1 trainer on site making visitation sessions inaccessible at this time. Should Nelly’s Canine Training inquire another trainer, we will bring back training session visits.

Your dog will stay in the home of the trainer! This is to ensure the comfort of your dog as well as to work on good manners with your dog inside of the home in a realistic setting versus a facility!

YES! Clients can expect to get updates via Google Drive. Each board and train dog will get a personal folder in our Google Drive system that is shared with the owner! The folder will contain training videos, photos, and journal logs of the dogs daily training, play, and overall behavior!

This answer varies by the program chosen for your dog! Our 2, 3, and 4 week board and train programs will guarantee your dog can perform basic commands without the use of treats and training tools. Upon you bringing your dog home will be up to you on what tools you will utilize as a “seat belt” to reinforce your dogs training.

YES! Any dog no matter the size, breed, or age is trainable!

YES! There are payment plans available upon request. Please get in contact with us to discuss a payment plan for your dogs board and train program. We try our best to make sure training is accessible to everyone!
